Description

Vision: By 2025, Isfahan Oil Refining Company, a successful subsidiary of the petrochemical holdings in the country, will be one of the leading refineries in Iran. Isfahan Refinery is one of the largest refineries in Iran and is considered the country's first refinery in terms of the diversity of petroleum product production. The initial design and construction of this refinery were carried out in collaboration with two joint American and German companies named Flour and Thyssen between 1975 and 1978. Before the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution, 90% of the construction work had been completed. Immediately after the revolution, with the efforts of domestic experts and employees, the refinery was completed and launched in February 1980 without the presence of any foreign forces. This industrial unit was registered in 1991 under the name "Isfahan Oil Refining Company" (Private Joint Stock) at the Companies and Non-Commercial Institutions Registration Office in Tehran. The feedstock of the refinery is Marun crude oil, which is transported through 32-inch and 36-inch pipelines, covering a distance of 430 kilometers. After passing through the Marun, Ramhormoz, Bagh Malek, Izeh, Dehdasht, Gandumkar, and Isfahan booster stations, it enters the refinery and undergoes purification in the respective tanks. Isfahan Oil Refining Company, in addition to crude oil refining and production of petroleum products, is responsible for supplying feedstock to downstream industries (Isfahan Petrochemical Company, Arak Petrochemical Company, Sepahan Oil Company, Jey Oil Refining Company, and Iranian Chemical Industries). Currently, it produces approximately 22% of the country's required petroleum products. This large refining complex consists of two almost identical refineries, with the main operational units being: Distillation units, Liquefied gas production units, Catalytic reforming units, Hydrogen production unit, Isomerization units, Gasoline production complex, Special solvents unit, Water, power, and steam units, Amine units, Sulfur recovery units, and more. Isfahan Oil Refining Company, located in the northwestern part of Isfahan, covers a total area of 340 hectares, including 114.5 hectares of green space. Over the years, the company has witnessed significant progress. Since the early 1960s, the crude oil refining capacity of this company has increased by 85% compared to its design capacity, reaching over 375,000 barrels per day from the initial 200,000 barrels per day. In 2002, the oil refining unit of the company, known as "Sepahan Oil Company," and in 2003, the bitumen production unit, named "Jey Oil Refining Company," were transferred to the private sector. Isfahan Oil Refining Company became one of the leading oil centers in the country's vast oil industry in 2007. It achieved profitability and higher efficiency compared to other refining companies. It was recognized as a pioneer in the oil industry and was subject to Article 44 of the Constitution. The company's shares were offered in the stock market under the symbol "SHPC" and transferred to the private sector. Despite the unjust sanctions imposed by global powers, Isfahan Oil Refining Company, following the directives of the Supreme Leader, has made remarkable achievements in promoting the resilient economy. With the assistance of domestic experts, the company has successfully produced the world's most complex refining catalysts for gasoline production units. Previously, the production of these catalysts was solely in the hands of two major American and French companies. Since 2015, with the launch and full operation of the gasoline production complex, it has played a significant role in reducing pollution in the city of Isfahan and the country by producing a daily average of 12 million liters of Euro 5 gasoline. The company also produces approximately 4 million liters of Euro 4 and 5 diesel daily, which is delivered to Isfahan's public transportation system to contribute to environmental preservation. With the operation of a diesel purification unit to be realized in 2022, the entire 20 million liters of diesel produced by the company will meet Euro 5 standards. Currently, Isfahan Oil Refining Company holds a 43% share in Isfahan Petrochemical Company. By entering the realm of shareholding in neighboring industries such as petrochemicals and Sepahan Oil Company, the company has taken significant steps in achieving the national goal of production growth and the elevation of the Islamic Republic of Iran through active and specialized participation in decision-making processes within these mentioned entities. To achieve its organizational and management goals outlined in its policy, Isfahan Oil Refining Company has implemented a comprehensive management system based on the latest editions of ISO/TS 29001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and HSE-MS. It focuses on improving processes, optimizing the refinery in line with environmental objectives, increasing the quantity and quality of products and derivatives, and ensuring profitability. The company has also obtained the ISO 50001 Energy Management Standard certification.
