Sadaf Petrochemical Company is the largest elastomer production complex in the country and the region, with the aim of producing 136,000 tons of styrene-butadiene rubber annually. It was registered under number 268533 in the Companies Registration Office in Tehran on April 18, 2006. This project is located on an 8.1-hectare site in Phase 2 of the petrochemical complexes, Pars Energy Special Economic Zone, Asaluyeh, within the area known as Styrene Park (owned by the National Petrochemical Company). The objective of this project is to establish and operate a petrochemical unit for the production of emulsion-based styrene-butadiene rubber (E-SBR), with the vision of supplying the upstream feedstock for tire and component manufacturers (rubber products). The nominal production capacity includes 78,000 tons per year of oil-based ESBR rubber (grades 1712 and 1778), and 58,000 tons per year of dry ESBR rubber (grades 1500, 1502, and 1509). In total, it aims to produce 136,000 tons per year using one of the most advanced technologies available, which is owned by Versalis-Eni S.p.A. The basic engineering of this project was carried out by Tecnimont Italy, and the detailed engineering was performed by Nargan Company. Sadaf Petrochemical Company has the capability to produce three grades of dry products and two grades of oil-based products with the highest quality standards and compliance with international energy and environmental standards. The production process of synthetic rubber at Sadaf Petrochemical Company is based on emulsion polymerization, with the main feedstocks being butadiene and styrene. Through specific reactions, it produces a polymer chain (elastomer) for use in the rubber industry.
