Description

The approval for the construction of the West Ethylene Pipeline in Iran was granted by the government on 2002/05/02. The responsibility for implementing the ethylene pipeline was assigned to the Petrochemical Industries Development Management Company. With the initiation of the ethylene pipeline construction, and in line with the country's economic development plan, the Bakhtar Petrochemical Company was established as a holding company and registered on 2005/11/17. To promote the establishment of petrochemical industries in less developed and deprived areas of the southern regions of the country, the government approved the construction of four new units on 2005/06/04. These four projects, along with the addition of the Gachsaran Petrochemical Company, were collectively named the "Dena Petrochemicals." The Dena Petrochemicals consist of one unit in Gachsaran and four units for the production of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) named Dezhdasht, Masjed Soleyman, Kazeroon, and Boroujen. During a provincial visit by the Vice President of the Parliament, Mr. Bahonar, to Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province on 2007/01/20, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Heavy Polyethylene production unit with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year was held in the city of Dezhdasht. Immediately after, on 2007/01/28, the Dezhdasht Petrochemical Company was established as a special joint-stock company and registered. Subsequently, on 2008/11/03, the Dezhdasht Petrochemical Industries Company was established as a public joint-stock company, and 100% of the shares of the Dezhdasht Petrochemical Company were transferred to this company. The company's name was changed to "Polymer Dezhdasht" on 2008/10/19. Polymer Dezhdasht is the executing entity for the construction of a Heavy Polyethylene production unit in the city of Dezhdasht. The aim of its implementation, in the first phase, is to produce raw materials for Heavy Polyethylene to meet the domestic market's demand and supply downstream industries. In the subsequent phase, the goal is to export the product to global markets. After conducting location studies and selecting a suitable site, a 102-hectare plot of land was purchased in the Kala Chou Desert area. Immediate steps were taken to integrate the land, and an official document for the construction initiative was obtained on 2009/11/17.
